Dubai has launched world’s first temperature controlled city “Mall of the World”. That will include World’s Largest Shopping Mall occupying 8 million square feet, 100 Hotels and Entertainment Serviced apartments with 20,000 Rooms, Cultural Celebration Center, 7km long temperature controlled retail street network, Largest Indoor Theme Park, 3 million square feet Wellness District and many more. This is the most ambitious since the UAE economic revival began in early 2012.
HRH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum announced the project on Saturday. Plan for the Mall of the World project originally announced 18 Months ago, However prior to latest announcement substantial development will begin now. Project completion time and project cost is still not announced. Mall of the World will be the retail and hospitality showpiece development for the Dubai Expo 2020.
Mall of the World is to be located along Sheikh Zayed Road and will be covering a total area of 48 Million square feet. The project will be managed by Dubai Holding and will be nothing less than a city with in a city. This will be through a glass dome enclosure that will be open up during the winter months, a high season for the city’s retail, leisure and hospitality sectors. On completion, it is expected that Mall of the World will pull in 180 million visitors annually.
Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum said in announcement: “Our ambitions are higher than having seasonal tourism. Tourism is key driver of our economy and we aim to make the UAE an attractive destination all year long. This is why we will start working on providing pleasant temperature-controlled environments during the summer months.”
HRH also stated: “This project complements our plans to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist and economic hub for the 2 billion people living in the region around us and we are determined to achieve our vision. The growth in family and retail tourism underpins the need to enhance Dubai’s tourism infrastructure as soon as possible. We are confident of our economy’s strength, optimistic about our country’s future and we continue to broaden our vision.”
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairmain Dubai Holding, said: “This project is a product of extensive research studying international and regional tourists’ requirements and preferences. The objective is to create an integrated city with a plethora of best-in-class options within pleasant environments. The project will be developed in phases in alignment with the gradual growth of family tourism in Dubai.”

Worlds Largest Shopping Mall
Mall of the World, with an area of 8 million square feet, will take the form of an extended retail street network, billed to be different from the typical shopping mall concept currently available in Dubai. Dubai already have the current worlds largest mall in world, Dubai Mall.
Hospitality District
The project will also see the addition of 100 hotels and serviced apartments buildings, including 20,000 hotel rooms.
Temperature Controlled Street
Trams will be located within the 7km temperature-controlled retail street network. The overall project will also include designated parking areas with a capacity to host up to 50,000 cars on the ground level.

Worlds Largest Indoor Theme Park
The mega development will comprise the largest indoor theme park in the world, which will be covered by a glass dome that will be open during the winter months.
Cultural District
Dubai Cultural District will be a dedicated theater district including conference, wedding and celebration halls with a capacity to host thousands of revelers. A ‘Celebration Walk’, similar to the Ramblas Street in Barcelona, will connect the cultural district to the rest of the mall. The district will also have a host of venues similar to London’s West End and New York’s Broadway.
Wellness District
Another component of Mall of the World is the Wellness District, which will cover a total area of 3 million square feet providing wellness and rejuvenation services. It will offer medical tourists and their families access to specialized surgical procedures and cosmetic treatments, wellness facilities and high-end hospitality options.
Dubai Event District
Dubai Event District in the mall will be the UAE’s largest celebration center, accommodating 15,000 visitors.
